CIRCUIT OF THE AMERICAS

 Nuevo circuito para el retorno, desde 2007, de la F1 a Estados Unidos. Con una distancia de 5,516 kilómetros, cuenta con 20 curvas en un trazado diseñado por Hermann Tilke, el “padre” de todos los circuitos modernos (Sepang, Sakhir, Shanghai, Istambul, Yas Marina, Yeongam y Buddh), de los cuales toma cierta inspiración. Al igual que en Yas Marina o Interlagos se circula en sentido contrario a las agujas del reloj.

Aprovechando la topografía natural, registra desniveles de hasta 40 metros. Ya desde la salida una pronunciada subida lleva hasta la primera curva, muy cerrada, casi 45º a izquierda, que quiere convertirse en la emblemática del circuito. El tramo de la curva 3 a la 6 recuerda al tramo súper-rápido Maggotts / Becketts de Silverstone; el de la 12 a la 15 copia el sector del estadio de Hochenheim y de la 16 a la 18, con sus distintos vértices o ápex, es un reflejo de la famosa curva 8 de Istambul Park.

Su difícil trazado requerirá un complicado equilibrio entre una elevada velocidad punta, para su largas rectas y sus enlaces de curvas rápidas, con un fuerte apoyo aerodinámico, imprescindible para sus fuertes frenadas (cuenta con cinco curvas muy lentas) y un tercer sector muy sinuoso.
