MARINA BAY URBAN CIRCUIT

 El hecho de celebrarse de noche con luz artificial, le convierte en uno de los más singulares de toda la temporada.

Se trata de uno de los circuitos más exigentes en dos aspectos fundamentales: apoyo aerodinámico muy elevado y enorme degradación de frenos. Cuenta con numerosas frenadas, muy potentes, que ponen a prueba la resistencia de los frenos.

Su pista es muy bacheada y su asfalto presenta un bajo nivel de adherencia. Al tratarse de un circuito urbano, las señales viales que existen a lo largo de su trazado perturba notablemente la concentración y la visión de los pilotos. Este último problema se multiplica en caso de lluvia.

Su escasa anchura dificulta mucho las maniobras de adelantamiento.

Es uno de los circuitos que supone mayor desgaste físico para los pilotos, ya que a su elevado número de curvas se une la larga duración de la prueba que suele aproximarse a las dos horas.

Para la edición 2023 su trazado ha sufrido una importante variación: desaparece la antigua zona de las curvas 16, 17, 18 y 19 (giros lentos de casi 90º de ángulo), sustituyéndose por una recta de casi 380 metros de longitud desde la curva 15 hasta la nueva y cerrada 16 (antigua 20), lo que supondrá una reducción del tiempo por vuelta (algo más de veinte segundos, según las primeras simulaciones).

Its track is very bumpy and its asphalt has a low level of grip. As it is an urban circuit, the road signs that exist along its route significantly disturb the concentration and vision of the drivers. This last problem is multiplied in case of rain.

Its narrow width makes overtaking maneuvers very difficult.

It is one of the circuits that involves the greatest physical strain for the drivers, since its high number of curves is combined with the long duration of the test, which usually approaches two hours.

For the 2023 edition, its layout has undergone a significant change: the old area of curves 16, 17, 18 and 19 (slow turns of almost 90º angle) disappears, being replaced by a straight line almost 380 meters long from curve 15. until the new and closed 16 (old 20), which will mean a reduction in lap time (just over twenty seconds, according to the first simulations).
