Italian GP 2016 - results - high risk, big reward for Alberto

Ladies and Gentlemen,

The race was decided at the start: HAM bogged off line handling a comfortable win to ROS. Not much to report after that. Ferrari settled for 3rd & 4th, RIC chased and passed BOT for 5th. VER didn’t get in trouble this time, he had a bad start too but had no problem recovering to finish in front of the under-performing Force Indias just outside the CFA points.

Only one of us took a chance reversing the expected Silver Arrows 1-2 order and he was deservedly rewarded with victory: Alberto, his third 2016 win tying Santiago's season high 15 points.. A brilliant risk to beat the 6 of us - Maria Elisa, Joe, Ricardo, Rocco/Joe Jr, Rodrigo and I- who otherwise would had achieved perfect 18s if Lewis had won in front of Nico, but we had to be happy with 14 points and to acknowledge Alberto’s master move.

We scored plenty with the Ferraris and the single Red Bull: 17 full marks with Kimi (4th), 14 with Seb (3rd) and 13 with Daniel (5th). Only 7 of us pick Valtteri in 6th and again, only Alberto collected gold in 1st & 2nd. Our numbers were the best of the year with 53 golds for an average of 10.65 points, not bad considering some colleagues had really bad races today (see next). Our season average went up to  7.5 but still below the 8.7 from 2015, our best year ever.

We are experiencing some dramatic changes in the top 10 of the leaderboard as a result of today’s pointspread. Manbos (today 10 / total 138) is now ahead of Tim by the minimum margin (11 / 137) but Fredrik has disappeared from the picture in one shot scoring only 4 points today. Rocco and karting Cham Joe (14 / 132) are moving from 6th to 3rd; Sebastian (11 / 130) remains in a strong 4th in front of Hector (11 / 128 ) who’s displacing rookie Luis (8 / 127) to tie in 6th with Maria (14 / 127). Early season leader Alberto makes a comeback (15 / 126) in 9th place, and drawing even in 10th we now find Fredrik ( 4! / 125), Danny ( 7 / 125)  dropping from 6th, and the reigning CFA Champion finally getting a mention - Cato (14 / 125 - yes, I’d been playing too!).

The rear end unequivocally returns to Matias (oot / 101) as uwe (7 / 104) finds a replacement.

We are going to a 2 week break to return in Singapore for the night race 16-18 September.

The drivers’ and makes’ championships are a long way to be decided between HAM only 2 points ahead of ROS, Red Bull 11 points in front of Ferrari for second and Williams 3 points ahead of Force India for fourth in the  Manufacturers’. But of course, the most exciting battle of the season is here in the CFA, but let’s do something soon, chasing Manbos and Tim fells like trying to catch Lewis and Nico!!

Soon

Cheers

Cato
