Ladies and Gentlemen,
As the life expectancy of the soft tyre is very short Q3 was conditioned by race tyre strategy.
Red Bull and Ferrari split their drivers with different strategies; Mercedes opted for the traditional faster option to qualify up front their two cars, McLaren did the opposite with both on mediums. Lotus and Sauber with one car each on Q3 decided for softs.
As result from all these different tactics we have a mixed and very intriguing starting grid. VET is at the front, no problem, follow by the soft-shod Mercedes that were only 2 tenths faster than WEB in the prime tyre, that fast is the Red Bull around here. MAS, RAI and HUL are in options ahead of ALO in primes, same as PER and BUT to close the top 10. GRO was left out in Q1 by a mistake by his team as they were trying to save a set of mediums.
Our CFA results were average, than means, bad as usual. Nine members had 2 points, the rest, one. We all cashed at least one point from VET in first. Thanks Seb! if it wasn’t for you...

The grid (tyre: Option, Prime)
VET (o) ROS (o) HAM (o) WEB (p) MAS (o) RAI (o) HUL (o) ALO (p) PER (p) BUT (p)
In theory this is a 2 stopper to cover the 60 laps, the interesting part will be if the leading pack would be able to build up the necessary gap in a few short laps to avoid coming out in heavy traffic after their first stop. As they stand, the 4 drivers on primes will close the last stint of the race on options, the opposite strategy of 6 of the 7 front starters.
Despite Red Bull’s supremacy this race has all the marks to be a really good GP. Apart from the double DRS zones for sure we shall see passing during the pit stops and many on-track battles.
Race picks? as complicated as ever, which means lots of chances to make places in the Championship. Just what we want!
Here we go:
Cato – VET WEB ALO RAI HAM ROS
Other early entries:
Tim – VET HAM WEB ROS ALO RAI
Erik - VET HAM ROS WEB RAI MAS
Fernando – VET WEB ALO RAI HAM HUL
Your turn –
Enjoy!
