Ladies and Gentlemen,
We are a democratic association (sometimes) therefore we rarely agree on something. Well, this time every single comment after last race concur the same thought: Mercedes fixed the result.
With lots of ink published since we are able to know more details of how, using Toto’s words: “we won the race and we lost the race”. It’s not hard to understand that when they had to make a quick decision in a very small period of time it’s easy to make the wrong call. But from every point of view this looks like a very convenient mistake: 3 Monaco GPs in a row for the German driver (good headline) and somehow this way the race for the title is still alive. If Lewis keeps dominating like this the Championship would be over by Hungary. Now that's really bad for business. And by the way Lewis just signed his new contract,
I will not be surprised if our suspicions are true. After the antics of Briattore /Piquet Jr crashing a car intentionally and the McLaren spygate, I’d believe anything.
What I can’t still understand is Nico’s celebrating his victory as if he’d earned it. He was delighted with a victory he didn’t deserve. I can imagine what Lewis’ response is going to be, I bet Nico won't be faster than him not once this year.
In a few hours the F1s will be on track at the Gilles Villeneuve and Uwe, Lou, Manbos, Santiago, Danny and I will be in the best possible place to see the 7th round of the Championship. Montreal is not only one the favourite races in the calendar for fans and the racing community, its circuit is a huge driver’s challenge and always (touch wood, this year in particular) delivers the best racing F1 has to offer.
Last year’s CFA winners were Manbos and I tied at 10 points. This is never an easy race to predict: driver’s errors, mechanical problems (brakes!), tyre issues, lots of passing.
I’ll be in touch tomorrow afternoon with the opinions from the boys that will spend all Friday watching the practice sessions.
Cheers
Cato
