Belgium GP 2012 - Results - Guzman for the second time

Ladies and Gentlemen,

The pile up at the start of the race deprived us from what was going to be a great show, although Button had the car to win it anyways. Vettel made 9 spots from his QF position to finish second and close the gap on  Alonso in the standings to 18 points, but Aalonso was rather lucky to escape injury from the accident. Without 5 of the top 10 starters the final results were... even worse than usual, let’s say.

With a group average of 4.1 points, Manbos’s victory with 8 points must get some kind of credit. He and Carlos (7 points) were the only members with two 3-point scores in 1st and 6th. This was his second GP win of 2012.The best we got after that were 5 points by 3 of you (Ian, Lou & Uwe) and from there all the way down to 2 (Fredrik, Ricky & me) and even we attained the all time dubious mark of scoring a single point (by Maria...blame it on Grosjean & Maldonado).

The bulk of the points came from the smart pick of Button to win the race with 15 votes. Raikkonen yielded three golds in 3rd place (Erik, Ricardo & Tim) and the winning choice was Webber in 6th (Manbos & Carlos). We got lots of single points in the second-place column (12 Raikkonen) but no golds, same as the 4th & 5th positions that ended up blank.

The top of the standings remained unchanged with Rocco`s lead now reduced 3 points to Uwe for 1st & 2nd (83-80); Manbos`s victory sent him on triple tie for third place with Fredrik & Joe (76). Closing the top 10 are Santi (74) Fernando (73) Maria (71) Rodrigo (70) & Champ Ian (69). Then rest of the field are bunched in the 60-point range except for the lonely last place man: Ricky with (57).  Ouch.

The Italian GP at Monza is waiting for us this weekend (7-9 Sept), a nice treat after the 5-week drought we just survived.

To fully understand today`s accident I invite you to look at the enclosed attachment. I heard that Matias (Maria & Curro`s son) has never been so furious (at Hamilton ``for hitting Alonso``) in his entire 5-year life...

Until Thursday

Cato
