Ladies and Gentlemen:
Monaco has its own schedule, the only race with practice taking place on Thursday and leaving Friday with no track activities. Teams had barely 4 days to haul their tons of equipment from Barcelona and get their machines ready for this morning free practice.
The big question in everybody’s minds was how the un-tested super-soft Pirelli compound will fare, and so far has been a hit with all drivers but the concern remains as to how long they will last. Pirelli recons their window should be 7-10 laps, and so far we’ve seen 5 laps without sudden drop with medium fuel load. The primes had proven to be about 1 second per lap faster that the options at this stage.
On top of the sheets it was a VET-ALO affair on both sessions with ROS close behind, both McLarens and MAS. The lead Ferrari setting a flyer half through P2 1.5 secs. faster than VET’s best on P1 that nobody was able to touch even in full QF trim.

ALO downplayed his achievement assuming that the F1 order will not change in only the last five days and he expects Red Bull to dominate QF and the race. He was happy with his set-up and said that in this track all comes down to confidence, something that him and VET had a clear edge over the rest today. SCH and MAL damaged their cars in separate accidents and WEB lost P1 completely due to gearbox and KERS issues.
