Belgium GP 2011 - Results - Rodrigo is the winner

Ladies and Gentlemen:
Red Bull and VET repeated the dose for the 8th time, and after this one the discussion about the 2011 Championship is probably over. The sister RB7 imposed its pace to bring WEB in 2nd for their second 1-2 of the season - so much for their pre-race tire blistering concerns. BUT was brilliant again coming from 13th to 3rd; ALO was feisty in the early going but ended up where the Ferrari belongs (4th) and the Mercedes had their best outing yet in 5th & 6th.
Rodrigo was the clear winner in Spa with 4 driver/positions and 12 points, 2 a of Curro, Ian and superlider Uwe, these three scoring triple 3-pointers in a race of mixed results for the group. With the exception of Fredrik (5) nobody had more than 4 drivers in the top 6 and in 4 instances some colleagues didn’t even score a single correct position!
Our best result by far was with ALO in 4th place with 11 votes; we didn’t do too bad predicting the winner either with 8 of you (Alberto, Curro, Manbos, Ian, Matias, winner Rodrigo, Sebastian and Tim) picking VET. Next was WEB’s second with 6, then ROS’s sixth with 5 votes, but none of us got anything out of the third (BUT) or fifth (SCH) positions.

In the race for the Championship I have bad news for 20 of 21 members: Uwe (114) now has a very worrisome 8 point lead, just when the closer marks at the top were giving hope to the chasing pack. Alone in second is Rocco (106) and then, amazingly there are 5 comrades tied in third place with 105 points – Manbos, Tim, Joe, Curro and impending Ian- then a slight gap to Erik (102) with Lou 2 points behind, another 2 to Alberto, then a two triple ties at 97 –Fernando, Matias and me- and 96 - Maria, Carlos and Rodrigo- Santiago & Ricky one behind (95), Ricardo (91), Fredrik (87) and again alone at the bottom Sebastian (85).

There are seven races to go, the next at Monza for the Italian GP in September 9-11, the fastest track on the calendar. And following the pattern of the current season I’m sure we’ll have another fabulous race.
Let’s connect again in two weeks time.
Looking forward.
Cato
