Italian GP - 2012 - Results - Tim's revenge

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Three poles and three consecutive victories by McLaren. Hamilton dominated; Alonso made good Ferrari’s speed to reach the podium establishing his lead in the Championship thanks to Button and both Red Bull retirements, but the star of the day was Perez overtaking everyone except the leader to take second for his third podium of the year.

With 10 points Tim was our GP winner, his maiden victory this year (he tied for first once already). He hit a triple 3-pointer (1st, 3rd & 5th) to beat by 2 points a group of six double-gold scorers: Maria, Champ Ian, Curro, Santiago and leaders Rocco & Uwe. Tim is our 10th different GP victor this season, with Manbos, Fredrik and Uwe as double winners so far.

Our not-so-terribly-bad results were helped by Hamilton's predicted victory by 15 members. None of us imagined Perez fantastic charge to second so that column went blank (only Sebastian placed him 6th for a single point), but 6 of you somehow knew Alosno was going to overcome his dire grid position to take third. Three more scored 3-pointers with Kimi in fifth, two with Schummi in 6th and only one (Santiago) guessed Massa’s 4th place.

Rocco keeps the lead in the standings with Uwe a little bit closer (92-90); Santiago jumped to third to tie Joe at 84 points leaving Manbos and Fredrik one point behind. The rest of the top 10 remains unchanged with Maria, Fernando, Ian & Rodrigo. With his victory Tim leaped a third of the field, from being at the tail end just a few races ago he now sits 14th tied with Matias (and only one point behind you Lou). And when all was looking lost for Ricky, rookie Ian Mac came along to save him from ignominy and take the relegation place (63-31). Quite a battle that one.

We are packing up for the Asian portion of the 2012 tour, the next stop will be the night race at the magnificent, spectacular and mega Mickey-mouse Marina Bay Circuit at Singapore, 21-23 September. That’s only 2 weeks, can’t wait!

Cheers
