Canadian GP 2012 - Race

Ladies and Gentlemen,

It was a fight of hundreds of a second. In his last flyer Vettel took the pole from Hamilton; Alonso is just behind them and for tomorrow it points out to be a 3 way battle between them.
CFA results were our usual poor, but Carlos score big hitting 4 points with a plenum. You may be experiencing problems accessing the QF results page in our web, there has been a technical issue with the main server, something not even Manbos was able to fix as hard as he tried, therefore I’ll give you a manual recount of the QF points and you might have to wait until next week to receive the final standings. The Race picks page is working fine and is now open to submit your forecast.
QF results: Carlos 4 points; Fredrik, Curro, Rodrigo (happy birthday!), Rocco and I, 1 point.

The grid for tomorrow’s Grand Prix:

VET HAM ALO WEB ROS MAS GRO DIR SCH BUT

It was a fabulous day at the track: beautiful weather, great atmosphere and we were treated to 10 minutes of Q3 that were truly sensational. Each time a new name was on top of the times a section of the stands erupted in cheers, included, hard to believe, groups of Schumacher fans. Among the CFA boys it was clear that their shouts of joy for this or that driver was purely based on the points they were about to score in qualifying! Once the session was finished we all wanted to talk and share the experience. Vettel was the quickest, Uwe said, because he was putting the power down a few meters a of everybody else ; Ricky was most impressed by how stable the Mercedes were, particularly under braking. Santiago shared his opinion. According to Fernando Schumacher was braking later and deeper than anybody else; Mercedes looks strong in this track, we made note of that a of our predictions for tomorrow. Tim, who flew from Edmonton and was witnessing his first ever GP, noted that both Ferraris were very rugged, even if Alonso said this was the best QF of the season for the Italians. The red cars were hard work, but definitely fast. Other comments were how Grosjean was much smoother (and faster) than teammate Rikkonen. Lotus was not the only car to disappoint, the Saubers have no traction and sadly we couldn’t see Mexican star Perez shine as we hoped. Manbos tried to be indifferent: “I think they will all break tomorrow” but really couldn’t contain his excitement at the incredible experience of the noise of the 18,000 rpm engines. The best quote was probably Lou’s:This is like 2 weeks of holidays compressed into 2 days”

The big debate, of course, is who’s going to win tomorrow, and there are only 3 names in our list: VET – HAM –ALO. Red Bull couldn’t get more than 12 laps with the option tyres in operating range compared to 15-16 from the Mercedes. The set of tyres they will start the race with (options for all the top 10 except BUT) has to last 20 laps to make a 2 stopper strategy work for the 70-lap race, but the very small 4 to 5 tenths difference in lap times between compounds, the front runners will try to cover most of the distance on the primes. More than strategy this will be a race of survival: attrition is always very high at the Gilles Villeneueve Circuit, experienced drivers have the upper hand in here.
> And expect passing and the safety car to be part of the proceedings. The polesitter has won only 3 of the last 10 Canadian GPs!

> And here we go – Cato = HAM VET ALO ROS WEB MAS - who knows?

> Good luck, enjoy!
