U.S. GP 2012 - Results - Rodrigo's first

Ladies and Gentlemen,

We were treated to a fabulous race. Hamilton chased Vettel relentlessly to score his fourth victory of the year, the 2 leaders pushing each other to their absolute best to finish 40 seconds ahead of 3rd place Alonso who drove the wheels off his Ferrari to keep his Championship hopes alive until the last GP of the season this coming Sunday in Brazil. Massa and Button made up 7 positions each to take P4 & P5 respectively demoting Raikkonen to 6th. So much for the ‘no-passing’ predictions, it was a spectacular GP filled with wheel-to-wheel racing and battles across the field. The track is fantastic as confirmed by our special envoys Maria & Fernando reporting from the field, although it should be renamed the Mexican Grand Prix by the number of Perez supporters taking the vast majority of the sold out capacity.

Rodrigo has won his first GP of the season with 9 points, same number as Rocco but he is taking the overall as the only associate to hit 3 triple targets. Santiago got 2 golds (as did Rocco) to finish next with 8 points as the rest us had a frankly bad day. Six, five, many 4s and even 3 point marks were the norm today. In fact 13 of us didn’t even score a single correct driver/position...
Ample favorite was Vettel with 15 votes, only Fredrik, Matias, Ricardo, Santiago and Rodrigo predicted Hamilton taking the win. Santi & Ricardo went one step further to hit a 1-2 with Hamilton-Vettel, but Rodrigo was the only one to score Massa in 4th, his selection of the Ferraris finishing order pulling off the big price. Only Rocco & Fernando had Raikkonen in 6th and nobody scored on the 5th place column. Although 3 of you forecasted Button charging to sixth (Uwe, Sebastian & Matias) no one imagined he’ll go as far as 5th.

The CFA Championship is basically decided; with one race left Rocco & son Joe enjoy a 16-point lead practically impossible to surpass (150p). The fight for second is now the most exciting battleground between Fernando (134), Uwe (133), Manbos (131) and the rejuvenated Rodrigo (130). Not completely out of it remain Maria (128), Joe (127) and maybe Santi (126). Curro (123), Champ Ian & Tim (122 ea.),  Matias (121) and me (120) will dispute the last chance to belong to the prestigious Top 10.

The red lantern looks firmly in rookie Ian’s hands (100), but veteran multi-GP winner Erik (103) is not complete safe from that major dishonor, same for another of the most experienced members, Alberto (105). We’ll see.

To keep the level of excitement high the final race of the season will take place this coming weekend in Brazil – 23-25 Nov. Vettel holds a 13 point lead over Alonso, but let’s talk about it this Thursday, it’s only 4 days away.

Until then

Cheers

Cato
