Ladies and Gentlemen,
Fourth win on the trot for Vettel but Alonso keeps the Championship alive with a great drive to second place. The big three teams monopolize the top six places and except for the hard charging Spaniard there were not position changes from the starting order.
The amazing news is the perfect first to sixth predictions by Rocco for the maximum achievable 18 points. Now, he is the official CFA franchise holder but for some time he has accepted that his vast F1 knowledge is far inferior to his son Joe, so he proudly admits that the Junior Karting Champion has earned all the household points for the 2012 season. The fact is Ladies and Gentlemen that we are being badly beaten by a 12 year old kid, his Championship lead looking insurmountable with 3 races to go. It seems that the best we can do to stop him is to dig up one of those many obscure CFA rules that we rarely use, like making sure all pool participants have legal drivers’ licence, something like that. Let’s talk.
It is an incredible achievement, particularly in a season where we’d been continually fighting with our worst marks. Only once in our long history we managed such feat, it was in the 2003 season when the Ferrari-Schumacher-Barrichello-Ross Brawn-Bridgestone combo was winning everything making the 1-2 an easy pick and Lou and I hit the jackpot. We had many 15-pointers since then, the next maximum best mark, but a full 6 out of 6 nowadays is really an historic milestone. Congratulations.
This was our best outing of the year, behind Rocco, or little Joe, there were several names with good marks: with four 3-pointers Ricky & Curro (14points); with three Fernando, Sebastian, me (12 points) and Manbos (11) as well as few others with 9 & 10 points including the black horse/starting grid. Nineteen golds came from Vettel in first but only the winner and Ricky forecast the correct 1-2-3, the only two members placing their faith in Alonso overtaking Webber and the McLarens to finish second. Our next best mark was Button with 9 votes in 5th and then Massa with 8 in 6th place; most of you (13) predicted either Raikkonen or Perez to take the Brazilian’s starting spot.
(* final marks are under review, Matias is presenting an appeal after ‘technical problems’ impeded him from submitting for the second time (!) this year. Slim chance)
The Championship is now an exciting battle...for second place. Rocco has a 14 point lead over new second overall Fernando (136-122); Uwe lost ground and was caught by Manbos for third (119) just one point in front of Joe. Maria is fifth (114) ahead of Rodrigo and Curro tied at 112. Closing the top 10 are Santiago (111) and Champ Ian (110). The relegation is now rookie Ian’s exclusive territory, he is 6 very long points behind Alberto, Erik and the ‘too-early-for-hail-Mary’ Lou, they are in a triple tie in next-to-last place at 95 points.
Don’t go anywhere, the next race is Abu Dhabi this coming weekend 2-4 November.
Let’s remain in ‘F1 state of mind’, we’ll be in touch again in four days.
Cheers
Cato
