Canadian GP 2012 - Race

by Cato Batista, 21/06/2012 18:28:11

Ladies and Gentlemen,

It was a fight of hundreds of a second. In his last flyer Vettel took the pole from Hamilton; Alonso is just behind them and for tomorrow it points out to be a 3 way battle between them.
CFA results were our usual poor, but Carlos score big hitting 4 points with a plenum. You may be experiencing problems accessing the QF results page in our web, there has been a technical issue with the main server, something not even Manbos was able to fix as hard as he tried, therefore I’ll give you a manual recount of the QF points and you might have to wait until next week to receive the final standings. The Race picks page is working fine and is now open to submit your forecast.
QF results: Carlos 4 points; Fredrik, Curro, Rodrigo (happy birthday!), Rocco and I, 1 point.

The grid for tomorrow’s Grand Prix:

VET HAM ALO WEB ROS MAS GRO DIR SCH BUT

It was a fabulous day at the track: beautiful weather, great atmosphere and we were treated to 10 minutes of Q3 that were truly sensational. Each time a new name was on top of the times a section of the stands erupted in cheers, included, hard to believe, groups of Schumacher fans. Among the CFA boys it was clear that their shouts of joy for this or that driver was purely based on the points they were about to score in qualifying! Once the session was finished we all wanted to talk and share the experience. Vettel was the quickest, Uwe said, because he was putting the power down a few meters a of everybody else ; Ricky was most impressed by how stable the Mercedes were, particularly under braking. ...

Canadian GP 2012 - QF

by Cato Batista, 09/06/2012 15:55:51

Ladies and Gentlemen,

McLaren doesn’t look to be the fastest car but certainly Hamilton feels at home in Montreal, he has been on pole 3 of the 4 times he’s raced here. Ferrari has brought a number of changes and is showing good form, at least in QF trim. Vettel was fourth in light fuel but Red Bull have reasons to be very concerned, they can’t get more than 12 good laps out of the super softs, at least 3 or 4 less than everybody else. If today’s practice sessions were an indication of what’s to come, we are on for a fabulous treat! the top 13 drivers were within the same second.

P1 – HAM (1.15.564) VET ROS ALO WEB HUL KOB PER SCH BUT
P2 – HAM (1.15.259) ALO MAS VET DIR KOB SCH HUL BUT ROS

Coming from Monaco this is the complete opposite kind of race track: low downforce, high top speeds, stability under braking a critical issue. With almost identical top speeds between the top 5 teams in the 4 speed traps, the difference in lap times is coming from the ability of the chassis to climb the kerbs and the skill of the driver to get close to the walls. Hamilton did his best lap in option tyres compared to the next 7 drivers in prime rubber, the McLaren clearly doesn`t have an edge over Red Bull and Ferrari, but the question mark is still pre-race favorite Mercedes and their prodigious top speed; they did not show their best cards today, working instead in solving their premature rear tyre problems, and so far they are the best in the long runs and looking pretty strong for Sunday`s race. I wonder if they are not concerned about QF concentrating ...
