2015 Australian GP - results - Points galore, Guzman takes the opener

by Cato Batista, 16/03/2015 5:07:31

Ladies and Gentlemen,

A Mercedes one-two, most likely the first of many this year. The W06 is from another galaxy, even without Nico putting pressure on Lewis and running a moderate pace to save engines they lapped every car up to 4th place, not that there were many cars at the end of the race anyways. Ferrari has the speed to challenge Williams in the ‘best of the rest’ category, no doubt is the most improved package from last season, same for Sauber that impressed with rookie Nasr with a solid drive to 5th place. Red Bull is having another bad start to the season and they only blame Renault for their poor performance. I can’t remember when was the last time we saw so many bad pitstops, and with only 11 runners at the end of the race this definitely wasn’t a promising start to the F1 season.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

It came down to better driving by Lewis to grab the pole, he was miles ahead (6 tenths) of Nico to score the first of their private battles. Williams and Ferrari are even closer to each other than we thought. Red Bull was next thanks to RIC’s skill, the local favorite barely beating the surprising rookie SAI in the junior Toro Rosso team. Lotus is back in the top 10 after a year's absence.

Reliability was an issue for several teams as is expected this early in the season with this overly complicated machinery.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

It seems clear Mercedes will be the dominant force again. Pre-season testing results are never to be trusted, teams don’t like to show their real pace but even so we’d learned who’s improved and who’s not. And the question is: who’s second best this year? Williamsread more
