Singapore GP 2016 -Preview

Ladies and Gentlemen,


The Singapore GP is coming up this weekend, 15th round of the season at the Marina Bay Circuit of the island-country. And this is one spectacular venue, gaining since its inaugural 2008

debut a reputation for being the toughest challenge in Formula 1. Raced under the floodlights, itís a test of endurance with its 24 tight corners and very high humidity and temperatures.

Ladies and Gentlemen,


The race was decided at the start: HAM bogged off line handling a comfortable win to ROS. Not much to report after that. Ferrari settled for 3rd & 4th, RIC chased and passed BOT for 5th. VER didnít get in trouble this time, he had a bad start too but had no problem recovering to finish in front of the under-performing Force Indias just outside the CFA points.

Ladies and Gentlemen,


Without any competition, the pole for the Italian GP was a private duel between the Mercedes duo, with HAM the very dominant side. Heís got now 5 Monza poles tying Fangioís and Sennaís record.

Ferrari was unchallenged for the second row, but the red cars are half a second away from the silver ones. BOT was impressive in the Williams beating RIC for 5th by one thousandth of a second, then came VERís Red Bull only 22 hundredths behind. Italian GP 2016 - QF

Ladies and Gentlemen,


Mercedes appears very dominant, more so than usual, but Ferrari introduced a new spec engine using all their last remaining 3-development tokens and they are closing in the silver machines. Both Seb and Kimi are now into their 5th and last engine for the season.

Pirelli is confident the super-soft compound will have a much longer life than in Spa, and Mercedes so far was able to do 20-lap race simulations in the red tyres. The fastest laps today were set in the super-softs (about 1.1 secs faster than the soft) except in FP1 where Mercedes was around 1 second quickest that the rest in the yellow-soft, such is their superiority.
