Ladies and Gentlemen,
One silver car is at front, the other in 16th. Rosberg fired the first salvo this morning with a lap 0.6 secs faster than his teammate in FP3, but then Hamilton had a brake failure to crash out in Q1. So Nico is on pole and Lewis is 15th on the grid after Gutierrez’s penalty. Williams is back in top form with Bottas sharing front row, Massa in 3rd. Magnussen has one McLaren in 4th but teammate Button is only 11th; Jenson and Kimi were pipped out of Q3 by the Force Indias. Once more Ricciardo is ahead of Vettel with both Red Bull next ahead of Alosno. Toro Rosso’s Kvyat carries on his amazing first F1 season with yet another top 10 qualifying.

2014 German GP - QF

Ladies and Gentlemen,
The reason all teams so willingly comply removing the FRICS (front-rear interconnected system) was because Mercedes has been refining theirs longer and is working better. Without it lap times were estimated to be between 2 and 4 tenths slower. At the end of day-one the Mercedes drivers traded places at the top of both sessions, same as usual but Red Bull in Ricciardo’s hands is as close to them as we’d seen so far, only one tenth behind on FP2. In the first session it was Alonso’s Ferrari the ‘best of the rest’ 2 tenths behind Rosberg with Ricciardo in 4th. McLaren introduced a radical new rear wing that seems to be working well particularly in the faster sectors; both their cars are comfortably top ten (rookie Magnussen ahead of Button) and they could be in the mix with Ferrari comes race day. Williams, not as fast today as has been in the last races still ...
2014 British GP - Race by Cato Batista, 05/07/2014 21:03:09 Ladies and Gentlemen, British weather showed up with british punctuality to produce the most intriguing starting grid of the season. Rain came and went throughout QF; tyre choice and hitting the track at the right time made a lottery for the 3 sessions. ROS prevail to grab pole leaving title rival HAM back in the third row. Those brave drivers who tried a last moment flyers on slicks when there was a dry window of opportunity later in Q3 improved to take the upper rows, like the McLarens. Ferrari was long gone by then, a slow reaction to conditions in Q1 left its drivers in 19th & 20th. Red Bull ended up second with VET 1.6 seconds behind ROS, RIC was 8th. Both Force India and Toro Rosso completed the top 10.
