Ladies and Gentlemen,
New pavement, new kerbs, faster track. But Mercedes, nothing new, is dominating the FP sessions. Lewis was on top on the first but had an off track on the second that left him out of the running. ROS, fresh from renegotiating a new contract for 2 years, went quickest in FP2 but more importantly he added dozens of laps on 2 different compounds and was the fastest and more consistent on the long stint simulations. Red Bull is not as quick as everyone expected, at best it is at par with Ferrari, both in single laps and with heavy fuel loads. McLaren was next after ‘the big 3’ as often they do in Fridays, ahead of the Force India cars that are looking in good form here. Williams and Toro Rosso can’t get the tyres up to working temperature, that’s why we find both Haas so high on the timesheets.
