Ladies and Gentlemen,
Mercedes has the whole package working in full song. It’s not only their power advantage, their chassis has traction, braking stability and directional changes to match. The first Thursday session was the fastest since rain made most of FP2 too wet for the teams to run their programs. (Dry weather is expected until Sunday) HAM & ROS topped that the charts separated by only 3 hundredths but RIC’s Red Bull was very close except in sector one where horsepower makes a difference in the only straightline of the circuit. ALO was fastest in P2 (4th in P1) but the track was slower as only the last minutes of the session were dry enough for the drivers to try the super-soft compound.

Ladies and Gentlemen,
Monaco is coming up this weekend, the 6th round of the Championship, and if you believe what’s being said in the paddock this is the race where the Mercedes might NOT win…
If somebody is getting close to the Silver Arrows (not much) is Red Bull, and according to none other than ALO the superior chassis of the RB9 could mark the end of the Lewis & Nico’s run of victories. 2014 Spanish GP - QF by Cato Batista, 10/05/2014 19:55:21 Ladies and Gentlemen, Things went as expected with the silver cars taking the front row, but it wasn’t that easy for Lewis as Nico found an ideal setup for his W05 to give his teammate a hard battle for the pole. In the end HAM carried his momentum to grab his 4th pole of the year (3rd in a row) with a lap under the 1m26s barrier. Mechanical problems hit VET yet again in his opening Q3 lap relegating him to last of the top 10. Meanwhile RIC was best of the rest in 3rd 7 tenths+ behind ROS and 1 full second behind HAM. Both Ferraris continue their recalcitrant single-lap QF form, Kimi beat Fernando by a fraction but they both were beaten by BOT in the Williams and the resurgent Lotus in GRO’s hands (MAL’s ended up against the wall…) BUT was the only McLaren to make it to the shoot out just ahead of the second Williams of MAS. Both Force Indias were left out of Q3 (PER 11th & HUL 12th) and even with their great race-trim full load consistency they will struggle to make places in this difficult-to-pass circuit.
